A day through my phone
... with Elias Rumelis.
The German designer just launched his high-fashion brand Eli by Elias Rumelis one year ago. Believing you can be anyone you want to be with the right clothes and the power of dressing up, Rumelis is designing pieces that are combining Avantgarde with urban toughness.
For this season of MBFW Elias invited us to follow his every step for one day during the preparations for his AW22 show.
How do you start and finish your day?
My perfect day starts with a creamy cappuccino. The successful end to a good day are fun moments with Netflix.
Do you have a favorite place, in the city you live in?
My favorite places are the culinary highlights of Frankfurt and Offenbach. I love sitting on Wilhelmsplatz and enjoy a perfect breakfast at the Tafelspitz restaurant.
What was the inspiration to your new collection?
The biggest inspiration are the differences that makes us so very special. It’s about the synergy of contrasts. The state of being seen.
What is the most important thing while developing a collection? What is indispensable to you?
Elements, floral, graphic, filigree, delicate – the details that stand out to emerge from the darkness. Surprise to be different.
What is the typical creative process behind your collection?
There is no pattern with me. Everything is different with Eli by Elias Rumelis. Impressions, company, everything flows and is connecting in my head.
Where do you find creativity and when are you most creative?
Shortly before falling asleep all the impressions of the day are coming together. Whether it’s a car or a surface, everything comes together at night. It is very possible that I am sending new design ideas to my producer at 4 o’clock in the morning.
