Berlin Fashion Film Festival x MBFW Berlin
Screening
Berlin Fashion Film Festival (BFFF) enters the official fashion calendar and launches its first collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The Berlin Fashion Film Festival will take place in tandem with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for the first time since BFFF’s 2012 launch. Running from January 18th – 20th at Kraftwerk Berlin, the event welcomes top creatives in a celebration of visual storytelling, state-of-the-art filmmaking and apparel arts. “In 2020, we received new submissions directly from fashion brands that opted out of a typical runway show. Mercedes-Benz invited us to join forces and extend the traditional fashion week. Berlin Fashion Film Festival covers the digital and visual part of fashion storytelling. We bring our network of international experts in the fields of brand communication and state-of-the-art filmmaking,” says Philipp Ulita, managing director of the BFFF.
At the core of this year’s program is a retrospective of the best fashion films from the past decade, selected from the previous editions of Berlin Fashion Film Festival. The program also includes in-depth roundtable talks and interviews with designers and filmmakers, featuring names such as Danny Reinke, Per Se, Amirah M. Tajdin of Radical Media, Elena Petitti di Roreto of REKORDER, Metz+Racine and KidSuper aka Colm Dillane. “We are looking forward to the first launch on our platform of menswear brand Per Se by Tim Borchert and Yannick Heidemanns at BFFF and their upcoming fashion film,” Philipp Ulita says. The final day of the festival also offers the opportunity to see two feature films: The Times of Bill Cunningham, a documentary about the New York fashion photographer Bill Cunningham, and The Staggering Girl, the latest film by director Luca Guadagnino in collaboration with Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Maison Valentino.
Screenings will take place on Monday January 18th at 7pm, Tuesday January 19th at 8pm and Wednesday January 20th at 8.30 pm at mbfw.berlin. The three-day event will be followed by the annual award ceremony scheduled for October 2021.
The entire festival program and live streams can be found on the website of BFFF.
